Residence Hall Security

Residence halls on campus have a card access system in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A student's Penn State id+ Card will provide access onto to appropriate doors.
University Police recommends that all students lock their door at all times - when they are leave their room for only a few minutes, when they are gone for the day or overnight, or when they are inside the room.
University Police also asks that students do their part in keeping the residence halls safe by not allowing person to enter a residence hall unless they live in the building or are being escorted by a resident of the building (i.e. not holding doors for those you do not know live in the building).
University Police's Student Auxiliary Officers patrol the exterior areas of residence halls. The Student Auxiliary Officers aid in the safety and security of the students in the residence halls by:
Monitoring the doors to make sure they are operating appropriately
Helping assure that only residents and escorted guests enter residence halls
Monitoring persons in the area and reporting any suspicious or criminal activity to the University Police
Monitoring access control computers for any door alarms
