The Bike Patrol Unit plays a vital role in fostering safety and engagement across the University Park Campus. Equipped with specialized training, the department's 24 bike patrol officers provide a highly visible and approachable presence, allowing for quick response to incidents and proactive crime prevention. Their mobility enables officers access to areas that may be difficult to access by vehicle - such as pedestrian pathways, courtyards, and select event spaces - making them a valuable resource during large gatherings, athletic events, and other events on campus. Through regular patrols, the unit helps deter criminal activity, enforce University policies, and ensure a secure environment for the campus community.

Beyond enforcement, the Bike Patrol Unit emphasizes community relations and outreach. Officers frequently participate in bicycle safety programs, collaborate with student organizations, and attend community events to educate and engage with students, faculty, and staff. By blending traditional patrol duties with a focus on accessibility and education, the Bike Patrol Unit exemplifies the University's commitment to both safety and community well-being.
